Delete your Yapply account
App: Yapply — com.gideontyberg.preston
You can delete your Yapply account at any time, without giving a reason. There are two ways to do it.
In the app
- Open Yapply and go to the You tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm. Your account is deleted immediately.
This works on Android, iPhone, iPad and the web app at app.yapplyapp.com.
By email
If you can’t sign in, email [email protected] from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm when it is done.
Parents and guardians: you can ask us to delete your child’s account the same way, whether or not you have a Yapply account yourself. You do not need to explain why.
What is deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes:
- Your profile — name, email, avatar, bio, status and colour
- Your date of birth and age band
- Your memberships of every group, and your friend connections
- Your reactions, saved messages, favourites and notification settings
- Your device tokens, so notifications stop reaching your phone
- Any parent or guardian links to or from your account
- Your sign-in credentials — the account itself no longer exists
What happens to messages you sent
Messages you sent in a group stay in that group, but they are detached from you: your name, avatar and account are removed from them, and they can no longer be traced back to you.
We do this because a group conversation belongs to everyone in it. Deleting one person’s messages would tear holes in conversations other people are still part of — and in a group of young people, a leader may need the record of what was said to remain intact. If you want specific messages removed as well as your account, delete them in the app first, or tell us which ones when you email.
How long it takes
Deletion is immediate. Encrypted backups are kept for up to 30 days and then overwritten on a rolling basis, so a copy of your data may persist in a backup for that period. It is not accessible in the app and is not used for anything.
